Description
BWT Test TH: Water Hardness Analysis Kit
The hardness test kit includes:
- One 15 ml reagent bottle
- One 20 ml graduated test tube
The hardness test (TH) measures the calcium content in your water.
City water contains minerals that combine to form lime scale, also known as tartar. This hardness analysis kit allows you to measure the calcium content from the output of your softener, ensuring that the water is sufficiently softened.
For reference, the recommended hardness level from a softener is between 5 and 15°f (°f = French degrees).
You can perform this test at any time, except when your softener is in regeneration.
The hardness test remains valid for two years, provided the bottle is kept away from heat.
Benefits of the Hardness Test
The hardness test helps ensure that your water treatment devices are still providing softened water. If the test shows a level higher than the maximum set for your system, it indicates the need to replace the filter cartridges or maintain your device’s components, such as the softener resins. The hardness test is very simple to use (see the "Using the Hardness Test" section). The product comes with its user manual.
Using the hardness test - Steps:
- Before performing the test, run a few liters of water from the tap.
- Take a 10 ml sample of water from the output of your softening device.
- Add the reagent drop by drop to the sample until the water changes color.
- Follow the instructions in the manual of your hardness analysis kit to determine the hardness of your water.
